Peter Lehmann Wines book
Sometimes we all get to work on one of those 'wish' projects.
For me it was being commissioned to research and write the Peter Lehmann Wines story.
I'm rather partial to a good wine so it was no hardship at all to spend two weekends at Peter Lehmann Wines in the Barossa Valley earlier on this year.
The challenge however was twofold.
1. The book needed to written, designed, printed and delivered by 31 July...and the start date was 1 March.
2. There were very little records. The story would need to be developed from a few interviews, whatever sources I could locate, and completed quickly.
Suffice to say, the book was delivered on time and I had a thoroughly enjoyable time interviewing Mick Anderson, the man with all the history.
Mick, initially not sure about how much assistance he could be, soon realised just how much history he remembered and then we engaged Peter's widow, Margaret Lehmann and some of the Barossa's best winemakers who had worked with Peter.
The end result was the book, Trust, Loyalty and Friendship, a 92-page, soft cover book with over 120 images.
And, I've developed a much deeper appreciation for Peter Lehmann Wines and the Barossa. They are both well worth trying.
