The not so ordinary construction company story, McNab
Toowoomba here I come.
It's interesting how the world works, especially when you're a business storyteller as I am.
In early January I received a call asking if I'd be interested in researching, writing
and publishing the story of McNab. Absoutely, was my response.
I was intrigued though as to how they had 'found me'. It turns out
they had a book of another construction company I had published many, many years
ago and, of course my name and phone number were in the back as the Publisher.
(Just goes to show keeping the same mobile number for just over 25 years is handy).
It was clear from the follow-up conversations that the approach, style and passion
McNab has is going to make this an interesting, enjoyable and different expereince.
And, I can't wait.
I've never been to Toowoomba (pronounced Ta-woom-ba) so I'm looking forward
to that...I love new expereinces.
And, I love wrapping my head around a new story. I've learned over the years to ask
lots of questions, listen to the responses and help guide people through thoughts,
memories and insights that they perhaps have never been asked about before.
The art of capturing a story
And this reminds me of my dad, Gerry, who I love dearly and passed away too
early.
We went through the cranky Jaqui 'teenage' period, which lasted abit longer than
my teenage years. Fortuneatly I grew up and we both got older, and then spent quite
abit of time chatting about his life. I always remember his response to my
question 'Can you tell me about your life?' 'Of course I can' was his response.
'Why haven't you shared this with me before? I asked.
'You never asked' was his response.
Capturing business stories
I am passionate about capturing business stories. Really they are just stories
about people, groups of people and what they create together.
Isn't that such a great thing?
